Founded by Dr. K. Veeramani in 1985, the Periyar IAS Academy has been serving the students of oppressed classes to achieve the high positions they aim at. It has been striving for social justice in government services, uplifting the depressed classes. The Centre is striving to keep the number of IAS and IPS officers from Tamil Nadu at par with other states. Girl students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes are provided free coaching. Postgraduate students with 60 per cent or more marks are given direct admission.
Coaching classes are conducted for appearing at the examinations for various posts of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), Public Sector Banks etc.
Classes are conducted by experienced professors. Frequently held seminars and group discussions and the well stocked library enrich the students' experience. So far, about 10,000 students have received coaching in this Centre.
