The Periyar Self Respect Propaganda Institution, popularly known as PSRPI, was established in 1952. It was registered and certified under the societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, on September 23, 1952. It is a public charitable institution.

Objectives:

• Imparting knowledge in political education.
• To fight for liberty, reason and self respect
• To protest against blind beliefs, needless customs and superstitions.
• To abolish birth based discriminations, castes and religion.
• To establish an egalitarian society and curb degradations.
• To annihilate untouchability and promote universal brotherhood.
• To help women get all the rights and empowerment.
• To bring about several reforms in the sphere of marriages.
• To construct home for destitute women and children.
• To draw people from the darkness of ignorance.
